"The Rain is raining all around,

It falls on field and tree..."

Robert Louis Stevenson

It has been a deluge so far this week, pretty intensely yesterday with thundering and hail. Luckily, nothing was damaged that I could see. It is necessary and normal this time of year, but always a little scary, since this is also tornado season. It isn't really normal to see them in the mountains but a few years ago three made an appearance in our back yard and devastated our neighborhood, as well as others. But this year, normal thunderstorms so far...so good.

I attended the Old Oak Festival last month and it did not rain. In fact, the weather was very cooperative and I had a nice spot under a shady tree. I have never done this particular festival before and in reality, this is only the second one I have done ever, so I did not know what to expect. I don't know what normal is for this event, but it seemed rather slow this year. I am happy to report that I sold some small drawings and a tote bag in spite of this. So, I made enough to buy more necessities for baby, i.e. a giant box of diapers :)

I rather liked how my display turned out, using mainly glass items from around the house and a super neat little chair I found at an antique store.

I hung my ink drawings from twine and my children's bookmarks from little twigs in mason jars. I also put little battery operated candles in jars as well, just for cuteness. It was kind of fun thinking up unique ways to display my items. There are a few things I will do differently next time mainly having to do with my illegible sign and heavy display cases, but overall I am happy with the result.

Next up is Greeneville's First Friday, May 6th from 6-9pm, where I will apply some more of what I learned from this last event. If we don't get rained out, that is! Thanks to everyone who came out and for supporting local art and crafts! And thanks to those that purchased art from me. I hope you love it and come back for more!
